July I telegraphed to you as follows:-

"1132 cases of plague to date 10412 deaths unless change for the worse shall not telegraph again, and I am happy to state that from that date there has been no recrudescence of the epidemic.

I enclose a return from which you will observe that from the 11th July to the 8th August there was a steady decrease in the number of fresh cases which occurred weekly, although there were 10 cases between the 8th and 15th August, on only two occasions since the 15th have as many as 3 fresh cases occurred in one day.

From the 15th to the 22nd Augt, there were 7 cases, and from the 22nd to the 29th August, only 3 cases, and there has been no fresh case since that date.
